The Baas Shipping Group is consistently continuing its dynamic growth trajectory. With the addition of Bernd Becker Shipmanagement GmbH & Co. KG from Jork, the maritime group gains a high-calibre partner with over 100 years of tradition. Baas Shipping is thus consolidating its position as a powerful player in European short-sea shipping whilst simultaneously setting the course for a new era of environmentally friendly maritime transport.
Synergies through tradition and modernity
The Baas Shipping Group was established in 2020 as a joint venture between the independent ship management companies Brise Bereederungs GmbH & Co. KG (Hamburg, founded in 1985) and F&L Schifffahrt GmbH & Co. KG (Lübeck, founded in 1982) to efficiently pool technical and commercial synergies. With the recent addition of the Becker family, now in its fourth generation of running the business, the group is integrating further valuable expertise. The shipping company Becker’s modern new-build mini-bulkers and additional container feeders perfectly complement the group’s strategic portfolio.
“With Bernd Becker Shipmanagement, we are not only gaining years of experience, but also a partner who shares our Hanseatic values such as reliability and entrepreneurial courage,” explain managing directors Arnd Becker and Dierk Faust. “Together, we are pooling our management resources to offer our customers even more efficient solutions from a single source.”
On course for ‘Green Shipping’: The Enviro Feeder 2027
A key pillar of the growth strategy is the modernisation of the fleet with a focus on environmental considerations. As part of this, Baas Shipping has announced the construction of the ‘Enviro Feeder’ series (type SMB1000OT). These forward-looking container feeder vessels, with a capacity of 1,100 TEU, are due to be delivered from 2027 onwards.
The Enviro Feeders are designed as pioneering projects to exceed regulatory standards through innovative environmental technologies and to realise sustainable maritime transport within Europe. By the end of 2026, the Group’s fleet will have grown to 20 vessels, comprising both modern ice-class mini-bulkers and state-of-the-art container feeder vessels.
