The long-established shipping company F&L Schifffahrt from northern Germany, which emerged from the shipping company Eicke (founded in 1985) and has established itself in European short sea shipping with a modern fleet of container feeder ships and general cargo minibulkers, is merging with its own subsidiary BAAS Shipping.

Bundled solutions for European coastal shipping

The new size is economically significant: the combined fleet will comprise 13 ships of various types for demanding markets, including state-of-the-art container feeder ships and the latest generation of mini bulk carriers with ice class and innovative environmental technologies. The latest deliveries, MV Beltmar and MV Bothniamar, were recently christened at the Chinese shipyard. The bundling of resources creates considerable synergies, from which regular customers in the area of ship management benefit in particular: shorter decision-making processes, reliable support, and maximum flexibility are guaranteed.

“Together, we are stronger and can offer our customers innovative, economically optimized solutions and maximum flexibility. With our combined expertise, state-of-the-art fleet, and digital ship management, we are consolidating our position as a reliable and forward-looking partner in European coastal shipping,” explains Dierk Faust, Managing Director of BAAS Shipping.

BAAS Shipping – stands for maritime expertise, modern coastal shipping, and customer-oriented solutions

BAAS Shipping was founded in 2020 as a joint venture between F&L Schifffahrt and the Hamburg-based BRISE Group and operates a modern fleet of container feeder ships and general cargo mini-bulk carriers in European short sea shipping. The shipping company combines many years of experience with innovative technologies and focuses on sustainable, digitally optimized processes and the gradual strengthening of competitiveness through fleet expansion in order to reliably meet the requirements of European markets.

Successful and customer-oriented into the future

For customers, the merger means above all continuity and progress: a reliable partner with a mature fleet and decades of maritime expertise remains in place and is simultaneously realigning itself with a view to the future. With the integration of the F&L Schifffahrt brand into the new BAAS Shipping corporate structure, the name will disappear as an independent brand, but the maritime tradition will remain alive.
