BAAS Shipping is expanding its fleet with the ‘Balticmar’, thereby putting its fifth newbuild into service. The modern mini-bulker strengthens the shipping company’s capacity in European short-sea shipping and complements its existing services for the transport of bulk cargo. At a reception on Lübeck’s Konstinkai, Managing Director Dierk Faust presented the vessel to representatives of the maritime industry.
Mini-bulker for European coastal shipping
With a length of around 100 metres and a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of 5,900 tonnes, the “Balticmar” is specifically designed for transport in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Thanks to its dimensions, it can also call at ports that are only accessible to larger vessels to a limited extent. It thus offers shippers additional options for cost-effective sea transport on various routes and supports the flexible organisation of supply chains.
Modern tonnage, strong ties to Lübeck
The ‘Balticmar’ expands BAAS Shipping’s fleet and strengthens the shipping company’s position in European maritime transport. The maiden call at Lübeck also underlines the close ties with the Hanseatic city, which, as a major maritime hub, is closely linked to the company’s history. The reception at Konstantinkai provided a fitting setting to unveil the new vessel, offer a glimpse inside the ship and foster closer dialogue with guests from the maritime sector.
